The Nokia 8850 incorporated high specification compared to competing handsets at the time. The inclusion of an FM Radio became a highly desirable feature, especially among commuters and students. The Nokia 8850 managed to appeal to both business users and fashion-conscious consumers. Extensive talktime and standby time, coupled with infrared and GPRS modem connectivity made it desirable for the business customer.
